HMPV (Human metapneumovirus) is endemic in India since years but the data is limited. Every part of the country has reported it at some or the other point of time. It usually causes self-resolving pneumonia. There's not targeted treatment. Only vulnerable population is extremes of age group that is paediatric, geriatric and immunocompromised. They need to take all the necessary precautions to prevent airborne spread. As we don't know the lineage of the virus which is creating a havoc in China and on our social media, we can't comment on the speed of spread of this virus.
We just need not panic but we need to stay alert.
Just take all the hygienic measures and stop focusing on the social media spread of the virus.
